Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read 1 straight thru 6... you'll get the point.

1. Name the 5 wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last 5 Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last 5 winners of the Miss America Contest.

4. Name 10 people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last 6 Academy Award winners for best actor.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday!
These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But...

The applause dies.
Awards tarnish.
Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners .

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name 3 friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name 5 people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated.

5. Think of 5 people with whom you enjoy spending time.

Easier?

The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards...

... they are the ones that care .

This is why I live my life as I do--helping others as much as possible, cheering people up if they are down. The people I see every day are the ones that matter. They're the ones I'm going to interact with in the future, they're the ones that know people that are going to be helping me later on. I should treat them well! And, of course, always let people know when you appreciate them... It's hard to track them down later in life. I've tried tracking down my former teachers and it didn't work as I had hoped, so the message that I was grateful for all they did for me was never delivered. And who knows when someone's last day in this life is going to be... make the best of it!!!!
